Meeting point — Santiago del Teide

We meet at the bus stop next to the square in Santiago del Teide. The guide welcomes us and explains the route. From here, the transport provided takes us to the start of the ravine.

Descent of the Masca Gorge

We entered the gorge, flanked by volcanic rock walls hundreds of metres high. The guide pointed out points of geological and botanical interest along the way.

Arrival at Masca Cove

At the foot of the Los Gigantes Cliffs, we enjoyed the unique surroundings of this remote cove. Free time before boarding.

Return by boat to Los Gigantes

We sail along the cliffs to Puerto de Los Gigantes. The included transport takes us back to the starting point in Santiago del Teide.

Terms of access and important information

You must wear hiking boots with a good tread pattern on the sole. If you do not meet the equipment requirements, TRAGSA staff (the company responsible for managing the trail) will refuse you access to the ravine, with no possibility of a refund.

Trainers, sandals or beach shoes are not permitted. Boots or hiking trainers with grippy soles are essential.

Medium difficulty. Some hiking experience is recommended. The descent involves a 5 km walk over uneven terrain. Not recommended for pregnant women, people with knee problems or those suffering from severe vertigo.

We’ll take care of arranging the permits to access the ravine on your behalf. We’ll let you know if any issues arise before the activity.

The courtesy waiting time is 10 minutes. We recommend arriving 15 minutes before the departure time.

Entry is prohibited for children under 8 years of age, people with reduced mobility and people with cardiorespiratory conditions

Safety protocol during the descent

If, during the descent, the guide considers that a participant is having difficulty completing the route, they may, for safety reasons, instruct them to return to the starting point. The guide will check that the participant has sufficient water, food and the physical fitness required for the return journey, and will liaise with the ravine control staff stationed at various points along the route.

Cancellations and changes

You can cancel or change the date free of charge, provided you give at least 72 hours’ notice.

If the gorge is closed in the days leading up to the activity

We will get in touch with you as soon as possible (via WhatsApp and email) to suggest an alternative date, if possible. If not, you will receive a full refund.

If the gorge closes on the day of the activity

The excursion will go ahead as planned, following an alternative walking route. A refund will be issued for any services not used:

  • Ferry ticket
  • Entrance ticket to the Gorge
  • Land transport

If the collapse occurs once inside the ravine

We will try to provide you with the best possible solution given the circumstances at the time, in coordination with the staff monitoring the ravine.
